Vehicle Checks introduces several core concepts:
ConceptDescription
VehiclesBoth tracked vehicles (with a telematics device) and untracked vehicles (imported purely for compliance purposes).
TemplatesConfigurable checklists defining what drivers must inspect, by vehicle type (e.g. HGV, trailer, LCV) or operation (e.g. daily, onboarding).
ChecksTimestamped records of driver completed inspection checklists per vehicle.
Check itemsIndividual inspection points within a checklist.
Check resultOverall status of an inspection (e.g. Pass, Fail, Not Checked, Moved Without Check).
DefectsFaults raised against check items, including photos, notes, and roadworthiness status.
Repair statusThe status of each failed check item (a defect). Each can be monitored independently through to completion (e.g. Open, Deferred, Repaired, Closed).
Repair lifecycleThe workflow used by managers to track defects from open, to deferred, to closed.
All of these objects are exposed via the Vehicle Checks API, allowing external systems to integrate with inspection data, defect status, and compliance reporting.
